Mr. Howitt has served as Rapporteur on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) during three successive European Parliaments. In 2002, Richard successfully proposed the setting up of a European Multi-Stakeholder Forum on CSR. His latest Parliamentary report in March 2007 emphasized the need for the European Union to better promote and implement global CSR initiatives. Howitt serves as a Member of the Governmental Advisory Group of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and as a Friend of the OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprise.
